ABC Radio Melbourne - Land Forces

4 October 2022

The ABC can reveal Army's head of armoured vehicles wrote to the two companies competing for the lucrative land for phase three contract last week to say a revised timeline could not be given. Liberal Senator David Van says he's concerned the project will be scaled back or completely scrapped.

“If we cancel the IFV order or delay it, do we want to put our troops in harm's way by having them travel in to a battle in a Bushmaster or our old M1 one three armoured personnel carriers? Personally, I'd much rather see our soldiers be protected to the highest capability that we can, which is an infantry fighting vehicle.”
