Road Upgrades
The Morrison Government is investing over $165 million in matched funding from the Victorian Government into four road infrastructure upgrade projects across South East Melbourne, creating an estimated 264 jobs to bust congestion and improve road safety.
The Federal Government is investing:
- $22.5 million for the upgrade of South Road in Moorabbin between Nepean Highway and Warrigal Road;
- $27.15 million for the upgrade of Western Port Highway roundabouts at Ballarto Road and Frankston-Cranbourne Road;
- $84.5 million for the upgrade of Hall Road in Skye and Cranbourne West; and
- $31 million for the upgrade of Narre Warren North Road.
Senator for Victoria, Senator David Van, said “The Morrison Government is providing essential funding for job-creating road infrastructure projects to boost congestion and improve road safety in Melbourne’s South East.”
“Commuters in greater South East Melbourne will benefit from reduced travel times due to improved traffic flow and improvements in road safety due to these road upgrades,” Senator Van said.
“Importantly, these projects are expected to create over 264 direct and indirect jobs for Melbournians over three years as we emerge from the COVID-19 recession,” Senator Van said.
This latest funding investment in South East Melbourne builds on a series of state-wide infrastructure investments from the Commonwealth in responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, which now total nearly $1.6 billion.
Since being elected in 2013, the Liberal and Nationals Government have committed more than $31.5 billion for infrastructure in Victoria.
