Science Week Funding

25 March 2021

A public science event in Clayton, in Melbourne’s south-east has shared in nearly $500,000 through the Morrison Government’s 2021 National Science Week grants.

National Science Week is Australia’s annual celebration of science and technology, with this year’s event running from 14-22 August.

The My Goodness Interactive Multisensory Science Books exhibition by Monash University will make science accessible to low-vision, blind, hearing-impaired and non-disabled audiences.

Minister for Industry, Science and Technology Karen Andrews said the Australian Government was proud to support innovative local projects as part of National Science Week.

“Science and technology are at the heart of so much – from our food, to our health, to business and our lifestyle,” Minister Andrews said.

“National Science Week is our chance to come together and celebrate what science does for our country. With great events running across every state and territory - as well as online - we’re keen to make sure that every Australian can take part.”

Senator for Victoria, David Van congratulated Monash University on making science inspiring and accessible, encouraging locals to take part.

“National Science Week isn’t just for kids or scientists – it’s all about connecting every section of our community and coming together to celebrate what we can achieve.”
