Dandenong business receives $207,880 grant to provide critical Defence capabilities

The Morrison Government has awarded a $207,880 grant to a Dandenong South business to enable them to scale up their capacity to support the ADF’s most important capabilities.

Senator for Victoria, David Van, congratulated Glyde Metal Industries on receiving a Sovereign Industrial Capability Grant, which will enable the company to fully automate their supply and storage of steel sheets, enhancing their ability to produce tensile assemblies.

“Glyde Metal are not only providing highly-skilled jobs for City of Greater Dandenong locals, but they’re also playing an important role in keeping Australians safe,” Senator Van said.

“By investing in our defence industry’s small businesses, the Morrison Government is supporting the future growth of our industry, and creating opportunities for more businesses to take part in our record build-up of military capability.”

Minister for Defence Industry, the Hon Melissa Price MP, said the grants were another way the Government is supporting local industry through the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Australia’s defence industry will play an essential role in our economic recovery, so these investments in our small businesses are more important now than ever,” Minister Price said.

Senator Van said grant applications can be made at any time through the Centre for Defence Industry Capability.
