New facilities for school students

Senator for Victoria, David Van today announced that Fitra Community School and the David Scott School will benefit from increased infrastructure funding thanks to capital grants from the Coalition Government.

Senator Van said the Australian Government will provide $24,400 to Fitra Community School for development of a masterplan, while the David Scott School will receive $600,000 for the purchase of an adjoining property.

“These funds have been made available to Fitra Community School and the David Scott School through the Capital Grants Program which provides funding for non-government schools to improve capital infrastructure.

“The David Scott School has reached capacity on its current site and this funding will enable the school to accommodate its forecast enrolment growth,” Senator Van said.

“Students and staff at Fitra Community School will benefit from the new masterplan, enabling the school to strategically plan for the future.

“Students and teachers thrive when their schools have modern and up-to-date facilities. That’s why the Morrison Government is proud of the Capital Grants Program, which is benefitting thousands of schools across the nation.

“The Morrison Government is ensuring that every child gets a quality education no matter where they go to school. We are providing a record $314.2 billion in recurrent funding for all Australian schools under our Quality Schools package.

“We are delivering real, needs-based funding that is matched by national reforms that will drive better results and outcomes, as recommended by David Gonski in his Review to Achieve Educational Excellence in Australian Schools.

“I congratulate Fitra Community School and the David Scott School on their successful grant applications and look forward to seeing the positive impact these grants have on the students and our community.”
