Redevelop Recreation Reserve

The Morrison Government has officially executed the funding agreement with Frankston City Council to disburse $2.6 million of Federal Government funds for the redevelopment of the RF Miles Recreation Reserve in Seaford.

Senator for Victoria, David Van, this week welcomed the execution of the funding agreement saying that this project will provide much-needed upgrades for our local sporting clubs.

“While Seaford Cricket Club and the Seaford Football Netball Club will be the main beneficiaries of these upgrades, investment in our local sporting clubs benefit the wider community by keeping our kids fit, healthy and engaged in community,” Senator Van said.

Grants like the one provided for the RF Miles Recreation Reserve in Seaford provide a much-needed economic boost to the local economy while providing better playing grounds and facilities for the local sporting community.

Senator Van also thanked the former Member for Dunkley, Chris Crewther, for his hard work in securing this funding. “Without Chris’ tireless efforts, this project would never have gotten off the ground” Senator Van said.

“Chris’ commitment to ensuring that the people of Dunkley have the best local facilities was on display in his determination to ensure this project received funding,” Senator Van said.

This project, for which construction is now underway, will include the construction of a new pavilion with female-friendly changing facilities, public toilets, a new netball court, new cricket nets, more car parking, a bus stop, shared user paths, fencing, landscaping, new oval lighting and a scoreboard and coaches’ box.

“The Morrison Government remains committed to improving local community sporting infrastructure facilities in Dunkley to prepare the ground for the return of community sport and contribute to the post-COVID economic recovery,” Senator Van said.

“I can’t wait to get down to the redeveloped RF Miles Recreation Reserve to watch a footy game where I used to play when I was growing up in the area many years ago,” Senator Van concluded.
