Unite for Ukraine Rally

Today marks 365 days since Putin began his unjust and illegal invasion against the good people of Ukraine. That is 365 days of unjustifiable death and wanton destruction. 365 days of innocent Ukrainians living in fear.

From the very beginning the people of Ukraine said that they could defeat the enemy if only they had the right weapons and unfortunately many dragged their feet in providing them with these critical goods only to provide them it much later.

I call on the Government to fulfil their promise to the people of Ukraine and send them at a minimum what they promised months ago.

We also must send a message to the people of Ukraine that we believe in them and that we support them by returning our embassy to back to Kyiv. If we were able to operate embassies in Baghdad and Afghanistan when the war was occurring there then there is no reason why we cant do it for Ukraine. Importantly it will send a message to Putin that Australia Stands with Ukraine and that we always will.

To all those in Ukraine who are suffering, we hear you, we see you and your suffering will not go unanswered.
